Philodendron birkins are identified by their round, deep green leaves with mildly pointed tips and vivid white pinstripes and variegation. No two leaves are the same, and thanks to the plump, thick, bright stems, they are always prominently on display.
P birkin invention : The way that Birkins came to exist is a cool story, too. Birkins do not exist in the wild and came to be because of a rare mutation in the Philodendron Rojo Congo. The mutant leaf was separated off the mother plant and propagated. Unlike many other variegated plants, the propagation was surprisingly stable, meaning it retained its cool variegated patterns.
Light: Bright indirect light.
Potting mixture: Potting Soil + Cocopeat + Organic manure/Vermicompost at equal parts and 5% perlite.
Water: Let the potting mixture dry half way between watering. This plant is an epiphyte and can handle drying out. Water the plant once in 3-5 days depending on the light intensity. Over watering results in root rot of the plant.
• Considerations: This plant can't handle much direct sunlight. Extra humidity will help the leaves grow big and healthy. Keep away from heating/AC vents and drafty locations.
DO'S AND DONT'S AFTER RECEIVING THE PLANT:
- Do not re-pot the plant immediately after receiving. We’ve taken care of that with better pot and rich soil.
- Check for the moisture level once you receive the plant. If its optimally moist do not water the plant. If the potting mixture is half dry then water the plant.
