Philodendron squamiferum is one of the most striking aroids. It is a climber unusual for its long, red stems that are covered with soft, fuzzy red hairs! It’s a cherry on a cake for any collector.
PLANT CARE:
Light: Bright indirect light.
Potting mixture: Potting Soil + Cocopeat + Organic manure/Vermicompost at equal parts and 5% perlite.
Water: Let the potting mixture dry half way between watering. This plant is an epiphyte and can handle drying out. Water the plant once in 3-5 days depending on the light intensity. Over watering results in root rot of the plant.
• Considerations: This plant can't handle much direct sunlight. Extra humidity will help the leaves grow big and healthy. Keep away from heating/AC vents and drafty locations.
DO'S AND DONT'S AFTER RECEIVING THE PLANT:
- Do not re-pot the plant immediately after receiving. We’ve taken care of that with better pot and rich soil.
- Check for the moisture level once you receive the plant. If its optimally moist do not water the plant. If the potting mixture is half dry then water the plant.
